It's What I Do

While I had some down time at work the other day, I found this article on A List Apart, talking about whitespace. The main focus was the use of whitespace in web design, but there was one section on ad design that I found particularly interesting...



The comparison between two ads with identical images & text (exemplifying poor use of white space vs strong use of whitespace) struck me as being very applicable to what I'm currently doing at work (designing ads for a jobs/classifieds type of newspaper). The image on the left looks pretty much like what we have to design to appease our clients...

But I'm not going to get into my disappointment just now - I'll save that gem for later ;)
